Matthew's book is a great read of one man's most epic adventure. His journeys are remarkable feats, to bicycle solo and unsupported across six continents through so many landscapes, environments and different cultures. His account of these journeys is awe inspiring. I was absorbed in the reading because here's someone who is living proof that tenacity, strong will and the right attitude bring the ultimate enjoyment, rewards, and insights to what life is all about. His descriptions of the places he traveled through almost left me feeling like I had been there myself. The many photos throughout the book are top notch (be sure you read see them on a color screen) and the maps make the route he took easy to follow. I thoroughly enjoyed the read and it has inspired me to get out and plan an epic adventure for myself!Product details

In the first few chapters Matthew's account of his solo bicycle travels were like a balloon in the wind, skittering along this way `n that, touching down now and then.........a somewhat superficial account of skimming the earth on two wheels. As time goes on, into Africa and finally through Latin America, his soul begins to reveal itself, and the book becomes more than just a descriptive travelogue of his highly driven bicycling life. The challenges he faces emphasize the magnitude of his endeavors, which become more and more interesting and astounding.
Both Matthew's adventures and the written account of them develop with time to disclose deeper perspectives of the cultural amalgam on earth and within himself, and with insight and conviction, his story deepens. His photographic skills really improve, too! Baited by his photos, I checked out his website to see more of his astoundingly magnificent visual accounts of his journeys, and was blown away by the content of his recently published series of photography books (available at [...])taken during these and subsequent travels, with much colorful content from South America and Asia. His candid shots of people beautifully capture the human essence. I hope to read more from this amazing adventurer, and look forward to hearing what's around yet another bend in his life. What a guy!
