The Advanced Ventilator Book is a companion to the best-selling The Ventilator Book and is written for clinicians who already have a solid foundation in the basics of mechanical ventilation. It goes beyond the ventilator itself to discuss strategies for severe hypoxemia and rescue maneuvers for refractory respiratory failure. Subjects covered in The Advanced Ventilator Book include • Optimal PEEP • Treatment of severe bronchospasm • Prone positioning • Therapeutic neuromuscular blockade • Inhaled nitric oxide • Veno-Venous ECMO • The seven rules of severe respiratory failure Dr. William Owens explains these complex concepts in a clear and readable manner. Like the original, this book is meant to be used in the ICU or Emergency Department instead of the library. The focus is on the bedside care of critically ill patients, as it should be.

I tried to be cute and buy this book 1st instead of the ventilator book that was a mistake. I would recommend reading the ventilator book before reading the advanced ventilator book although this book was very informative as a nurse I only really needed to know the information presented in the ventilator book. The one useful thing about this book was that it talked about ECMO which prior to reading that chapter I had very little to no understanding about. Some of the other chapters had a lot of equations and chemistry in them that as a nurse you don’t need to know.Product details

The Advanced Ventilator Book William Owens MD 9780985296520 Books Reviews
To the point and very practical. Information just needed.
What an amazing read. Great overview of basic concepts.
Well written, up to date, and readable. Not an in depth pathophysiology book, just what to do and why you should do it.
Concise, helpful, clear. I like how it summarizes in a few quick bullets at the end of each chapter.
Greater depth than the introduction book, very clear and well explained.
Great review for anyone working with ventilators, the version is best for me.
Did its job, its a book..
Not the ultimate reference, but a well reasoned compendium of respiratory care with heavy focus on ARDS. Helpful for nurses, doctors, and students alike.
